Restaurant Interior Design in a Traditional Farmhouse in Matadepera (Barcelona)
Can Solà: light, nature and charcoal cooking
At the foot of the Sant Llorenç del Munt massif, Can Solà occupies an 11th-century farmhouse surrounded by a striking natural landscape. The intervention brings this relationship with nature into the dining experience, allowing light, vegetation and views of the garden to become part of the restaurant interior.
The cuisine is based on locally sourced produce and slow charcoal cooking. The charcoal ovens are therefore placed in full view, acting as a prelude to the main dining room and expressing the culinary identity of the restaurant. At the centre of the room, a large pantry unit organises the space, displays fresh produce and supports its everyday operation.
The dining room opens visually towards the garden and its central holm oak. Round tables, upholstered benches and the more intimate rooms within the older part of the farmhouse provide a balance between generous communal spaces and quieter corners.
Glazed tiles, reclaimed timber, linen, wicker, rattan and cane create a warm, tactile atmosphere. Olive green and mustard yellow bring the colours of vegetation and fire into the interior, connecting architecture, gastronomy and graphic identity in a setting designed for unhurried dining.
