Interior Design and Branding for a Tapas Bar in Barcelona
4 Latas: a place to eat, drink and share
Eating, drinking and sharing form the starting point for 4 Latas. The bar is conceived as a social setting in which most tables and counters are shared, encouraging interaction and an informal dining experience rooted in the culture of vermouth and preserved foods.
A continuous counter runs around the perimeter, while high tables are positioned freely within the central area. This arrangement allows customers to alternate between sitting and standing, accommodates different group sizes and creates a continuous flow between the entrance, the counter and the areas in which people gather.
The façade takes an active role in the life of the venue. A covered patio acts as an entrance threshold, while large vertically opening windows strengthen the relationship between the street and the interior, making the activity of the bar visible from the city.
The material language comes from the world of food preservation. Metal cans, glass jars, mesh and galvanised steel are reinterpreted as lighting, glass racks, ceiling elements and supports for planting. The project also encompasses furniture, graphic identity and merchandising, creating a recognisable concept in which architecture and brand emerge from the same idea.
