Restaurant Interior Design Rooted in the Traditions of Sigüenza (Guadalajara)

The architecture of Sigüenza is shaped by stone, timber, rendered walls, terracotta and a rich layering of textures. The design of Lantigua Restaurant draws on this local identity to transform an initially open, contemporary shell into an interior closely connected to its setting.

The intervention introduces timber posts and beams, locally sourced stone, textured renders and terracotta flooring. Rather than literally reproducing historic architecture, these materials bring its character and authenticity into a contemporary hospitality space.

Reuse plays a central role in the project. A hexagonal timber counter, formerly used at the Hotel Elías, is restored as one of the restaurant’s defining elements. Old riveted iron beams are also repurposed to create bespoke furniture.

Alongside materiality, particular attention is given to acoustic comfort, lighting and ergonomics. The result is a restaurant where the dining experience emerges from a balance between local tradition, operational functionality and a warm atmosphere designed to endure over time.
