Renovation and Licensing of a Franchised Pizzeria in Barcelona
Big Pizza: technical fit-out and functional planning in the Eixample
The corner position of the premises, on a busy chamfered junction along Carrer Aragó, determines the organisation of Big Pizza. The intervention takes advantage of its urban visibility and easy access by placing the entrance, service counter and high bar in direct contact with the street.
The L-shaped plan allows the different flows to be clearly separated. The kitchen occupies a dedicated area, while the toilets, storage and waste exit are concentrated at the rear. The remaining space is released to form an open and flexible dining room capable of supporting both on-site dining and the sale of pizzas, slices and empanadas.
The premises initially lacked installations, acoustic treatment and the necessary fire-safety provisions. The project introduces the infrastructure, protection measures and comfort conditions required to obtain the operating licence and ensure the efficient daily running of the business.
The interior follows the franchise’s design guidelines: a neutral dark-grey background is combined with orange accents associated with the brand. In this case, architecture provides the technical and operational framework for an established commercial identity.
