Renovation of an Italian Restaurant Using Reclaimed Furniture

Bringing a farmhouse restaurant back to life after years of closure, and doing so within a limited budget, required the intervention to focus on a small number of decisions capable of transforming the character of the place.

Colour becomes the project’s main resource. Magenta is applied across walls, textiles, furniture and display cabinets, bringing together elements from different periods and giving the restaurant an immediate identity. Rather than replacing the existing furniture, tables, chairs and storage pieces are reused and transformed through paint, lighting and glazed ceramic finishes.

The kitchen is modernised to meet new culinary requirements and partially opened towards the dining room, making part of the food preparation visible to guests. Inside, a continuous bench runs along the rear wall and incorporates firewood storage, while a collection of convex mirrors expands views and adds depth.

The intervention extends into the garden through planting, lighting and new furniture. Its different corners allow the experience to continue outdoors and restore the long after-meal gathering as an essential part of the restaurant’s identity.
