Aiguablava Luxury Apartments

This project involves the interior refurbishment and conversion of three apartments in to seasonal tourist accommodation located in one of the most beautiful parts of the Costa Brava: Fornells beach (Playa de Fornells) in the bay of Aiguablava in Begur.

Originally, the apartments were very divided and labyrinth-like, as a result of their elongated shape: one façade faces the sea while the other is embedded in the rocky mountain. They were accessed from one end, which created long, dark corridors at the back.

The starting point of our project was to move the access to the apartments to their central point in order to minimise the need for passageways and corridors. Working with curved partition walls brings fluidity to these passageways, increasing their width and thus minimising their corridor effect.

At the back of the apartments, a linear piece of furniture has been built which houses several alcoves of different sizes and shapes, arches that enclose benches and desks. 

The walls are stuccoed, and wood appears in various features in the apartments, bringing warmth to their walls.
